The RTA has announced the completion of the maintenance of asphalt pavement works in both directions of the 2nd of December Bridge, from Satwa roundabout in the direction of Al Garhoud Bridge and the opposite direction of the bridge going toward Satwa roundabout.
Works have been rolling on 24 hours a day in order to complete the maintenance on time, meet the needs of road users, and maintain the road assets in the best operational condition.
Engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said, “The RTA has completed the maintenance works of asphalt layers in a number of roads at the highest international standards. Over two weeks, works on the bridge have been divided to minimise congestions in the area. The first week saw the completion of phase one, extending from the 2nd of December Street up to Sheikh Rashid Street, and phase two was completed during the second week, extending inbound from Sheikh Rashid Street up the bridge before the roundabout of the 2nd of December Street. “These works were originally scheduled to be carried out at the beginning of this year, but RTA traffic surveys indicated that summer would be the perfect time for carrying out such works as the traffic movement would be minimal, considering the start of school and family summer vacation, thus expediting the completion of road works.
“Maintenance works carried out are part of the agency’s policy to conserve, raise the efficiency and ensure the sustainability of assets through adopting the highest international standards to ensure compliance with safety specifications and highest quality of roads in use, which will ultimately contribute to the RTA’s strategy enshrined in its motto of safe and smooth transport for all,” said bin Udai.
